Our Honeybee class, or Family Class, is a mixed age class at NCP which spans from ages 6 months to 5 years. Knowing that many families have more than one preschool aged child, we wanted to offer a preschool experience that allows for the entire family to enjoy together. Both the child or children and their caregiver attend this once per week class. Our family class offers activities to support this special mixed age group by scaffolding with our oldest learners while offering age appropriate things for our youngest learners. Learning is child-led with each child selecting his/her preferred activity during "free choice." A variety of activities are offered during class, ranging from sensory play in the sensory table, art, exploring toys, pretend play, building and music, stories and movement during our "circle time." 

A small group in-class parent education component is offered during class each week.  With teacher support, parents have an opportunity to discuss how NCP's philosophy and curricula support children and prepare them for a successful transition to Kindergarten, life-long learning, and social competence. In addition, parents participate in a monthly evening parent education component.
